The overall objective for this project was to design a new office space for a digital marketing agency, Connect, located in the growing neighborhood along the High Line in New York City. During the first year of Covid, Connect’s 30 employees worked remotely. Now that they are seeking to return to the workplace in a hybrid model, they seek an office environment that can host their growing business and more prestigious clients while establishing areas for both collaboration and focus for their employees.
The majority of Connect’s employees are Gen Z and Millennials which is why they would like their space to reflect current cultural trends and working methods while providing spaces for collaborative work while maintaining a professional work environment. The connect office occupies the 5th and 6th floors. This project was done in collaboration with Sarah Bonnet.
Concept & Visual Positioning Board
Connect’s new office space features collaborative work spaces, open office design and private pods where employees can collaborate in a hybrid format. The Connect office encourages collaboration between the various web creators, designers, and other staff to form a sense of community and solidarity. In addition to having a sense of community, this new office design prioritizes focus.
The concept for the Connect office is based on a ripple of water. The movement and layout of working spaces are arranged to encourage free-flowing work styles. This design mixes permanent work stations with comfortable team working spaces. Teknion furniture fits the needs of Connect’s employees and their products have provided very unique design solutions. This new office caters to the needs of this innovative digital marketing agency while still encouraging personal health and wellness to be at the forefront of their work
Personas & Materials Palette

Celene is a 27 year old senior designer at connect. She enjoys a comfortable workspace that feels like more than just an office. She loves how the layout of her workspace allows her to check in on the other web developers and to be collaborative. Celene also enjoys the hybrid work environment so she can do some brainstorming work away from her desk.

Dana is a 38 year old marketing strategist that is a co-owner of Connect. Beth has a busy schedule traveling, but when she’s in the office she prioritizes her time in synergetic work. She loves the idea of a hybrid work environment but really enjoys working with her team at the office. Dana is very excited to have a space where she can communicate and work hands on with her employees within her shared office space.
